Interfaith Fast for Peace in Iraq - Sharing Prayers for Peace, Fast-Breaking Food, and Music as a Peace Circle
The Peace Circle, an interfaith group in and around Lansing, Michigan, fasted for peace in Iraq during daylight hours Monday and broke the fast together after sunset at Haslett Community Church, sharing powerful prayers for peace and for forgiveness from local Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Hindu, and Baha'i religious leaders and sharing a prayer for peace in the Buddhist religious tradition. See: www.interfaithfast.org.
At least forty people were nourished by the food we shared and were moved deeply as we shared music. We are grateful to the Shalom Center in Philadelphia, http://www.shalomctr.org/, for calling this fast for peace in Iraq - and to all who worked to make the event a powerful reality.
