Peace rally honors anniversary of Sept. 11 while protesting war

The State News, the Michigan State University student newspaper, covered "Speak Up for Peace on September 11th." About 150 people gathered on the median of Grand River Avenue in East Lansing -- to mourn the horror of 3000 deaths in September of 2001 and of hundreds of thousands of deaths and injuries from war in Iraq -- and to call for an end to this war.

Bring U.S. troops home from Iraq.
No permanent U.S. military bases in Iraq.
No attack on Iran.
Fund health and education, not war.

The Lansing State Journal also published a photo and caption in the local section of its Wednesday, September 12, 2007 edition.

The Greater Lansing Network Against War & Injustice (GLNAWI) plans a peace rally on the median of Grand River Avenue from Abbott Road to MAC, near Michigan State University.

The tragedy of 2001 continues and deepens with each year of occupation and war.

In reaction to this 4 year war, with the numbers of dead, dying, and wounded beyond understanding, GLNAWI asks that you please come with compassion for those families who lost loved ones on 9/11 and those soldiers who have died since the war began.
Come with compassion for the damage we have done to the families and country of Iraq.
Come with tears in your hearts for all the deaths.
Come with demands.And come with noise.
Come with bells and drums and signs and banners.
Come with emotion, commitment, and abhorrence.
Help us continue demonstrating our resolve to end this madness.
NO MORE WAR WITHOUT END
NO MORE KILLING FOR OUR OIL UNDER THEIR LAND
NO MORE POLITICAL LIES THAT LINE THE POCKETS OF CORPORATE CONSPIRATORS

THE CRY TO END THIS WAR NOW
